It is very good at carrying 3 drunk idiots in there though.

As a direct competitor to other cars we're looking at being a Mercedes, I was amazed how quickly I dismissed the ML from our search. Same with my dad.

Was it internal space? Because I think it looks good, but that's about it.

Interior felt cheaper and was less visually appealing, it was fairly mushy and roly-poly to drive, it was slow, and we both deemed it mom-ish (sue us).

I'd love to, but the reliability combined with my dad's self-consciousness mean it's out.

For fun, I compared the interior dimensions between the Mercedes ML and my 2007 Focus Wagon.
The Focus:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The Mercedes ML:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It's very striking how space-inefficient an SUV like the Mercedes ML is compared to the lowly Ford Focus Wagon.
Note that the ML is 9" wider, almost a foot longer and over a foot taller.
